More about lawn turf in Radcliffe
Most turf work in Radcliffe is returfing a tired lawn on an inter-war semi, the sort you see all over Chapelfield and Coppice. Years of clay and foot traffic leave them patchy and mossed up. Our premium lawn turf, at £4 per m2, is a hard-wearing family lawn that stands up to kids and dogs, and it is cut to order for next-day delivery so it goes down fresh. Add about 5% to your measurements to cover the cuts.
Radcliffe has plenty of shaded plots too: north-facing terrace yards boxed in by neighbouring rows, and gardens under the mature trees out towards Ainsworth. Turf wants decent light to establish, so if your plot is heavily shaded ask us before ordering and we will give you a straight answer. Barrow Landscaping can strip the old lawn, sort the ground and lay it for you.
We deliver across Radcliffe and the surrounding area: Blackford Bridge, Chapelfield, Coppice, Ainsworth and beyond (M26).
Can you lay a new lawn on Radcliffe clay?
Yes. Clay is standard round here, so the ground gets dug over, broken up and a layer of screened topsoil worked in before the turf goes down. That gives the roots something to get into rather than sitting on solid clay. Supply-and-lay covers Radcliffe, Blackford Bridge and Coppice.
How quickly can I get turf in Radcliffe?
Turf is cut to order and delivered next day once your order is confirmed, so tell us the square metres and when you want it. We would rather it went down the day it arrives, so book the ground work in first if the laying is being done for you.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
