More about lawn turf in Pendlebury
New lawns are the job we get asked about most in Pendlebury. A lot of the semis around Wardley and Lark Hill have back gardens that have gone patchy and mossy under trees or heavy footfall, and stripping the old grass off and returfing gives you a proper lawn in an afternoon. Our premium lawn turf is £4 per m2, cut fresh to order, and hard-wearing enough for kids and dogs. Add about 5% to your measurements to cover the cuts. If your garden is heavily shaded, like some of the boxed-in plots on the terraced streets off Bolton Road, ask us before ordering and we will tell you straight whether turf is the right call.
Turf is cut fresh to order and delivered next-day across Pendlebury, so tell us the square metres and the day you want it and we will have it on the rolls. If the garden needs levelling first, or you would rather it went down for you, Barrow Landscaping handles turf supplied and laid, from ground prep to the finished lawn. On the newer Agecroft and Clifton estates where the ground is thin over old works rubble, we will usually put a bed of screened topsoil under the turf so the roots have something to get into.
We deliver across Pendlebury and the surrounding area: Agecroft, Clifton, Wardley, Lark Hill and beyond (M27).
How quickly can I get turf in Pendlebury?
Turf is cut to order rather than kept in stock, so it is next-day in most cases. Get your order or enquiry in the day before, tell us the m2 and your M27 address, and we will cut it fresh and deliver it the following day.
Do I need new topsoil before laying turf in Pendlebury?
It depends on the garden. Older plots in Wardley and Lark Hill often have enough soil to rake over and lay straight onto, but the new-build gardens around Agecroft and Clifton tend to be shallow over rubble and want a fresh 100mm of topsoil first. Send a photo and we will tell you straight.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
