More about lawn turf in Salford
Cut-to-order premium lawn turf right across Salford at £4 per m2, hard-wearing enough for a family lawn and fine enough for a showpiece sward. Turf is cut the day it goes out and reaches Ordsall, Weaste and the Quays the next day, so it goes down fresh. Order about 5% extra to cover the cuts.
A lot of Salford back gardens are small terrace yards hemmed in by walls and the neighbours houses, and turf wants decent light, so ask us before ordering if yours sits in heavy shade. On the new build plots through Ordsall and Broughton we will usually tell you to dig out the developer skim and lay proper topsoil first, or the new lawn fails the same way the old grass did. The bigger semis up in Kersal and Charlestown are where a fresh sward makes the difference. Supplied loose for you to lay, or supplied and laid, with the laying done by Barrow Landscaping.
We deliver across Salford and the surrounding area: Ordsall, Pendleton, Weaste, Broughton, Kersal and beyond (M3, M5, M6, M7, M27, M28, M30, M50).
Can you supply and lay a new lawn in Salford?
Yes. As well as cutting turf to order, we can sort supply-and-lay anywhere in Salford, with the old ground stripped, prepped and the new lawn laid for you. Most people go that way once they add up the cost of buying turf, hiring a rotavator and getting rid of the spoil themselves. Send the measurements for a price.
Will turf take in a shaded, north-facing Salford garden?
Turf needs a decent amount of light, and we supply one premium turf rather than a special shade blend. The terrace yards around Pendleton and Weaste and the plots behind taller houses can be borderline, so ring us before you order and we will tell you straight whether it will take.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
