More about lawn turf in Stretford
Stretford lawns take a beating. The open semi lawns in Firswood and Longford cop the full sun and heavy footfall, and the terraced back gardens around Old Trafford are small and boxed in by house gables and boundary walls. Our premium lawn turf at £4 per m² is hard-wearing enough for the family gardens and fine enough for a showpiece front lawn. If a back yard sits in heavy shade for most of the day, ask us before ordering and we will give you a straight answer on whether turf will take.
All our turf is cut to order and delivered next-day across M32, so it goes down fresh instead of sitting rolled up going yellow. Measure the lawn, add about 5% for cuts and we will have it on the wagon. If the terrace has no rear access we drop the rolls kerbside and you barrow them through, or they get carried in on a supply and lay job. Want the whole thing done? Ask when you order and the old grass is stripped, the ground levelled and prepped, and the new lawn laid, returfing anything from a Gorse Hill yard to a full Lostock back garden.
We deliver across Stretford and the surrounding area: Old Trafford, Firswood, Gorse Hill, Lostock, Longford and beyond (M32).
Will your turf cope with a shaded Stretford back garden?
Our premium lawn turf copes fine with normal garden shade. The darkest terrace yards around Old Trafford and Gorse Hill, hemmed in by gables and north-facing walls, are a different story, so ring us before ordering and we will tell you straight whether turf is the right call.
How quickly can you deliver turf to Stretford?
Turf is cut to order the day it is lifted, so we deliver next-day to M32 once your order is booked in. Get the measurements to us and a fresh lawn is on its way to Firswood, Longford or wherever you are in Stretford.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
