More about lawn turf in Eccles
New-build lawns are the big turf job around Eccles. The estates off Liverpool Road and towards Barton get a thin turf-over-rubble finish from the developer and it rarely lasts. The fix is to strip that back, dig in a proper depth of topsoil and lay fresh turf that actually roots. A returf on an older Monton or Winton lawn is the same idea: get the ground right first, then the grass looks after itself.
Turf is cut to order the day before it goes down, so plan a day or two ahead rather than expecting it off a shelf. We cut one turf and it is a good one: premium lawn turf at £4 a square metre, hard-wearing enough for a family lawn in M30 and fine enough for a front garden in Ellesmere Park. Add around 5% to your measurements for cuts and trims, and if the garden is heavily shaded, talk to us before you order. Have it supplied loose to lay yourself, or have Barrow Landscaping prep the ground and lay it. Eccles is a next-day run once it is booked.
We deliver across Eccles and the surrounding area: Monton, Winton, Patricroft, Barton, Peel Green and beyond (M30).
How quickly can you lay a new lawn in Eccles?
Turf is cut fresh to order, so we usually want a day or two of notice, then Eccles is a next-day job. It is cut and delivered fresh rather than left to dry out on a pallet, which matters in summer. You get a firm date when you book, not a vague window.
Can you sort the ground on a new-build lawn in Barton?
Yes, and on the newer estates it is the part that counts. Developer lawns sit on compacted subsoil and rubble with barely any topsoil, so we lift the old turf, break up the ground, bring in screened topsoil to a decent depth and lay fresh turf on top. Send the size and we will price the supplied-and-laid job.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
How much turf do I need?
Measure the lawn area in square metres, length times width, and add about 5% for the offcuts you lose shaping around edges, beds and paths. Odd-shaped lawns are easiest to split into rectangles and add up. Our coverage calculator does the sum for you, or send the measurements and we will confirm the roll count.
