More about lawn turf in Walkden
New lawns are the big one in Walkden. The ex-council semis around Little Hulton and Walkden North came with large rectangular gardens that have gone to moss and bare patches over the years, and a returf sorts them in a day. We sell premium lawn turf by the square metre, cut to order, at £4 per m2, hard-wearing stuff that copes with kids and dogs.
It is one turf at one price, fine enough for a front lawn on one of the bigger semis and tough enough for a back garden full of kids. Add around 5% to your measurements for cuts, and if your plot is tucked behind the terraces near the town centre and sits in heavy shade, talk to us before you order. All of it is cut fresh and delivered next-day, or you can have it supplied and laid, with the laying done by Barrow Landscaping.
We deliver across Walkden and the surrounding area: Little Hulton, Ellenbrook, Wharton, Walkden Central and beyond (M28).
How quickly can I get turf in Walkden?
Turf is cut to order, so it is a next-day job once you confirm. That keeps it fresh for laying rather than yellowing on a pallet. Give us the square metres for your garden and we will get it booked in.
Can you take the old lawn up before returfing?
Yes. On the tired ex-council lawns round Little Hulton and Walkden North the supply-and-lay covers stripping the old turf, levelling and prepping the ground, then laying the new turf as one job, so you are not hiring a skip and a turf cutter yourself.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
