Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.

It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf.
