More about lawn turf in Prestwich
Plenty of Prestwich gardens are big enough to make the lawn the main event, especially the semis and detached houses around Sedgley Park and St Marys Park. When an old lawn has gone patchy and mossy, returfing it beats years of trying to reseed. Our premium lawn turf is £4 per m2, cut to order, and it takes kids and dogs while still looking the part. Add about 5% to your measurements to cover the cuts.
Turf is cut to order and delivered next-day, so it goes down fresh rather than sitting rolled up drying out. The streets backing onto Heaton Park and the tree-lined plots off Bury Old Road often sit in shade, and turf wants decent light, so if yours is heavily shaded ask us before ordering. Give us the square metres and we will get it cut, or go supplied and laid and Barrow Landscaping will strip the old lawn and lay the new one for you.
We deliver across Prestwich and the surrounding area: Sedgley Park, Simister, St Marys Park, Rainsough, Heaton Park and beyond (M25).
How quickly can I get turf in Prestwich?
Turf is cut to order, so it is not sat on a shelf. Order it and it comes next-day, ready to lay the same day it lands. Prestwich is in our Greater Manchester delivery area and well inside our delivery area, so it comes over on the next-day run.
Can you lay a new lawn on a sloping Rainsough garden?
Yes. The gardens up around Rainsough run on a slope, so the ground gets prepped and firmed properly before laying so the turf does not slip or scalp. Send the measurements and we will price the supply and lay.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
