More about lawn turf in Manchester
Lawn turf cut to order for Manchester gardens at £4 per m2, delivered for you to lay or supplied and laid through Barrow Landscaping. Turf is cut fresh and reaches Chorlton, Didsbury and Levenshulme the morning after it is cut, so it goes down green rather than yellowing on a pallet. Add about 5% to your measurements to cover the cuts.
A lot of Manchester back gardens are small, shaded and boxed in by Victorian terraces, and turf needs decent light to thrive, so if yours barely sees the sun ask us before ordering and we will tell you straight whether turf is the right call. The bigger Didsbury and Whalley Range plots have room for a proper family lawn, and student gardens over in Fallowfield usually need the tired old grass stripped and fresh topsoil down before any new turf goes on.
We deliver across Manchester and the surrounding area: Chorlton, Didsbury, Whalley Range, Levenshulme, Burnage and beyond (M1, M8, M14, M15, M16, M19, M20, M21).
How fast can I get a new lawn laid in Chorlton or Didsbury?
For most Manchester jobs we can prep the ground and lay fresh turf within a few days of the visit, weather permitting. The turf is cut the day before, so it is next-day fresh, laid by you or by us.
Can you turf a terraced garden reached through the house?
Yes, it is routine in Levenshulme and Whalley Range. Turf is cut to order and barrowed through by hand where there is no side access. Send a photo of the ginnel or hallway when you enquire and we will confirm it is workable before booking.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
