More about lawn turf in Bury
Lawn turf cut to order and delivered across Bury, supplied loose for you to lay or supplied and laid through Barrow Landscaping. Turf goes down next-day so it stays fresh, from a small Fishpool back garden to a bigger plot out towards Walshaw.
A lot of Bury gardens sit on heavier ground given the town is on the edge of the moors, and the north-facing plots common in the older terraces get little sun. If yours is heavily shaded, ask us before you order rather than after, as turf needs light and we would rather give you a straight answer first. On any returfing job we get a bed of topsoil down so the new lawn roots into something better than clay.
We deliver across Bury and the surrounding area: Elton, Fishpool, Redvales, Chesham, Walshaw and beyond (BL9, BL8).
Is turf really next-day in Bury?
It is cut to order the day before and delivered the next day in most cases, so it does not sit drying out on a pallet. Get your order in and confirmed and we will book the cut for the following day, weather allowing.
Can you returf a small terraced garden in Bury?
Yes, that is a common job on the Freetown and Redvales streets. We cut the turf to fit and barrow it through the house or down the ginnel where there is no side access, and on a supply-and-lay job the old lawn gets lifted and taken away too.
Can I just buy turf and lay it myself?
Yes. We supply turf cut to order for you to take delivery of and lay yourself. Because it is cut fresh it needs laying within about a day, so have the ground prepared and ready before it arrives: dug over, levelled, raked to a fine tilth and firmed. If you want the ground doing too, that is what the supplied-and-laid option is for.
What does supplied and laid mean?
It means the whole job is handled, not just the turf. Barrow Landscaping comes out and measures, prepares the ground properly, strips any old lawn, levels it and brings in topsoil where it is needed, then lays fresh turf the day it is cut. You get a finished lawn rather than a pallet of turf to deal with. It is the option most people go for once they see the price difference against buying materials and hiring a rotavator.
When is the best time to lay turf?
Spring and autumn are ideal, when the ground is warm and there is usually enough rain to help it root. Turf can go down almost all year as long as the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Summer laying is fine but needs a strict watering routine while it establishes. We will be honest about timing when you enquire.
