Topsoil in Sale

Good topsoil is where a healthy garden starts. We supply one grade: screened topsoil at £70 per bulk bag, delivered across Leigh and Greater Manchester.

More about topsoil in Sale

Screened topsoil delivered across Sale in bulk bags at £70 each. Plenty of Sale gardens near the Mersey and Sale Water Park sit on heavy clay, so a good depth of screened topsoil is what turns a boggy patch into ground you can actually grow on. A bag is around 0.7 m3 and covers about 7 m2 at 100mm.

For raised beds and topping up borders in the Sale Moor terraces a single bulk bag does the job and we can leave it kerbside. For levelling a whole garden or filling behind a new retaining wall in Brooklands, the same screened topsoil builds the levels up, just order more bags. Ask about spreading when you order if you would rather not barrow it through.

We deliver across Sale and the surrounding area: Brooklands, Sale Moor, Ashton upon Mersey, Dane Bank and beyond (M33).

What topsoil suits Sale's clay gardens?

Near the Mersey and Sale Water Park the ground runs heavy, so a decent depth of screened topsoil at £70 a bulk bag lifts and lightens it for a lawn or beds. It is the one soil we sell and it handles lawns, borders and raised beds alike.

Can you deliver bulk bag topsoil to a Sale back garden?

We deliver kerbside to the nearest safe spot and split bulk bags from the drive or pavement, then barrow the soil in where access allows. Tell us the setup at a Sale Moor terrace or a Brooklands semi when you order and we will confirm it works.

What is the difference between screened and unscreened topsoil?

Screened topsoil is passed through a mesh that removes stones, root and lumps, so it is clean and easy to work, and it is the right choice for lawns, beds and anything you are planting into. Unscreened topsoil is cheaper but full of whatever came off site, and it is not a seed bed. Ours is screened, so what arrives is ready to use.

Is screened topsoil good enough for a new lawn?

Yes. A clean screened topsoil laid at around 100mm is exactly what turf wants to root into. Rake it to a fine, level finish and firm it before the turf goes down. If the ground underneath is heavy clay or rubble, going a touch deeper helps drainage and root run.
